ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Ashley, and I'm a Halifax Wedding Photographer! I'm also a cat-lover, sunset chaser, and lover of candid, real, adventurous, passionate, beautiful moments. I go swimming any chance I get, I love talking to strangers, laying in grass, curating playlists, and seeing live music. And I really love my job.

I’m self-taught! I learned on the fly by starting to shoot sessions and small weddings when I was 17, with a small jumping off point of one high school film photography course. I have always learned by doing, and am certainly motivated mainly by wanting to be surrounded by love, and helping others remember how it felt. I was raised by the most sentimental parents ever, always reminding us to appreciate every little moment, and that’s become a huge part of who I am.

More fun facts about me:
- I moved from Whitby, Ontario to Halifax when I was 19, and I really deeply love the East Coast
- I have two brothers, I’m the eldest of the three. They both still live in Ontario and I missss them so much all the time
- My boyfriend, Ross, is the sweetest loveliest person ever and I will often bring him to shoots as an assistant because lucky for me he is also so so talented!

I want to connect with you. On your wedding day or portrait session, I don’t just see you as a client. I genuinely want to be friends with you, because when I put my camera in front of you, I’m thinking about who you are, I’m thinking about your future self looking at the photo, I’m thinking about how nervous I would be if I were you, and I’m thinking about how valuable every second I have in front of you is. I don’t walk away from sessions or weddings thinking that I finished a job; I leave thinking about the connection we made, and the pieces of evidence that I get to hold in my hand that say that you lived, loved, laughed, had feelings, had experiences - felt happiness, sadness, fear, excitement. A photo to me tells your story, and I come to photography with that in mind.
